Lil Pig Makes Dinner

Tonight, Lil Pig told us that she wanted to make dinner. We had a new recipe that we came up with and she insisted that she wanted to help. So, we carefully watched over her as she helped us prepare dinner.

Here she is stirring the rice and squash.

Carefully she cut the chicken. I was worried about her using a knife, but she handled it really well.

Cutting up the tomatoes.

Here she is handing me a tortilla shell. Look how happy she is! She loves helping us cook.

Here she is carefully checking the dish. She is even using the pot holder, which we told her was one of the most important things when dealing with a hot stove. Don't worry. My husband was right behind her to assist.

While we waited for the dish to finish baking, Lil Pig decided to pretend like she was the main dish! I took a picture of her while my husband was in the other room. When he came back and saw her with an apple in her mouth, he was so shocked!

Lil Pig had to assure him that she was just playing. He could only hold his head in his hand for a while. It really was funny.

All in all, it was a really good dinner. We call it Baked Chicken and Rice Rollups. Give Lil Pig a shout if you would like the recipe. It's really good!!

Lil Pig Takes Care of Me

On Wednesday of last week I had another really bad migraine. I was able to struggle through the day with the pain, but by the time I was off work, it was really bad and I couldn't wait to get home, get my medicine, and relax in a nice cold, dark room. When my migraines get really bad my husband will get a hand towel and get it wet with really cold water and then place it on my head. This often helps me relax and soothes the pain at times when nothing else seems to. On this particular night, Lil Pig knew I was not feeling well so she was really quiet and an especially good helper. She patted my head while my husband got the hand towel wet, and then she placed it on my head.

Here's Lil Pig placing the cold hand towel on my head. My husband didn't want to put the flash on because it would just hurt my head more. So, the picture is a little dark, but you can still see Lil Pig being so gentle and helping me out.

I just adore this Lil Pig of mine! Every day she does something new that makes me smile. I was happy to have her help me and take care of me when I wasn't feeling well. She is so wonderful!

A Present For Lil Pig

My friend Gina (Lil Pig's creator) went on a mini vacation during the 4th of July holiday. While she was away she stopped in a coffee shop and was amazed to see something that immediately reminded her of Lil Pig. She told her husband she just had to get it. So she did, and she brought it back and gave it to me to give to Lil Pig. When I gave it to Lil Pig she was so excited she just didn't quite know what to do with herself. She loves presents, so this was a very special treat for her. Oh? What did Gina get for her, you ask? Well, take a look for yourself!

She bought her a cup that says "little" and then has a picture of a pig. It's a Lil Pig cup!!! Lil Pig carried this around all night drinking from it with a straw. She loved it!

Look how happy she is! You can't tell it from this view, but the pig on the cup actually has green eyes! Just like Lil Pig!! How fun is that?

Here's a close up of the cup. I couldn't get a nice picture of it that wasn't blurry, but at least here you can tell she has green eyes.

What an amazing find!! Seriously, how random was it that some coffee shop in another state had a cup that was just the right size for Lil Pig and even had her name on it? I don't think it was random, and neither did she. Lil Pig said it was meant to happen. Thanks, Gina, for the awesome cup! Lil Pig loves it!!

Lil Pig Gets Some Mail!!!

One day, after a long day at work, I came home and my husband said to me, "You aren't going to believe what came in the mail today."

"Not another bill!" I exclaimed.

"No, not that." He said, with a twinkle in his eye.

"What is it? What came?" I asked.

He then reached over and handed me a letter that was addressed to none other than Lil Pig! A huge smile came across my face and I ran to tell Lil Pig that she had received mail. She opened the letter and was so happy she could barely contain herself. The letter was from Madison, our niece, who had come to visit not too long ago. Here are some pictures of Lil Pig with the letter.

Here she is with the contents of her letter spread out all over the chair. She was so excited!

She wanted me to take pictures of all the details of the letter. Madison did such a great job of coloring and drawing. We were all blown away with how good she is!

Here is the actual envelope that was sent in the mail. The front and back had all sorts of pictures on it.

This was Lil Pig's favorite part of the whole letter. It was a picture of her that Madison drew! How completely awesome! Lil Pig asked me if I could frame it for her so she could put it up on her desk. I told her I would, so now we get to go look for a really nice frame to put this in.

Lil Pig was so happy to get mail. She said it was one of the best days of her life! Thanks, Madison for sending such a beautiful letter to make Lil Pig so happy!!

New Neighbors for Lil Pig

Lil Pig has had many adventures, and I have been so busy that I have not had any time to post them up here. She has not been happy about that because she wants people to read and see her adventures. I apologize that I have not been able to post, and I will try to do better.

Lil Pig has found some new neighbors that she hopes will one day be her friends. Apparently we have had some pigeons find a nice place to build a nest on our balcony. We have mostly been leaving them alone, since by the time we get home it is dark and the birds fly away. However, Lil Pig is here during the day and she likes to watch them build their nest on the balcony. When she told us the pigeons were building a nest under the grill, we had to move the grill to the other side of the deck. We left for the day and left the nest exposed to the elements in the hopes the birds would take a hint and take their nest somewhere else. The next morning we found that not only was the nest gone, but the birds had moved every last stick and branch underneath the grill on the other side of the deck! So we then decided to move the grill back to the original location, throw all the sticks and branches off the side of the balcony into the trees and put pieces of wood underneath so the birds wouldn't build another nest there. Well, the next day Lil Pig ran out onto the balcony and found an egg and another day later there was another one!!! Imagine our surprise! I felt really bad that we had ruined their nest the day before they laid the egg. Lil Pig was so curious she wanted to get as close as possible to the eggs, but I wouldn't let her.

Here's Lil Pig trying to check out the eggs. One is up front and the other is way in the back.

Here's a picture of the momma bird nesting with her two eggs. Sometimes she sits on them and sometimes she just sits next to them.

Here is a close up. Lil Pig was so excited to see the momma bird had come back after we went back inside from the balcony.

It was pretty fun to explain to Lil Pig about how the baby birds will eventually hatch from the eggs and then one day they will fly away. She was so excited that she decided she wanted to fly like the birds too. I walked in on her just as she was about to jump...

See that little peach colored blur? That's Lil Pig jumping off the couch and trying to fly like the baby birds! She tied herself to a string on the ceiling fan and jumped. She was laughing so hard and had a great time, but once she realized that I wasn't laughing she knew she was in big trouble!
She is a curious little thing, but in all honesty that's what makes her so much fun to be around. Stay tuned for more of her adventures, and we'll be sure to post pictures of the baby birds when they hatch.
